Google is officially rebranding its popular AI note-taking tool, NotebookLM, to Gemini Notebook while adding powerful new integrations.

A Fresh Name for NotebookLM
We are getting ready to say goodbye to the name NotebookLM as we know it. Google officially announced on Thursday that the beloved AI note-taking app is becoming Gemini Notebook.
The company stated that the tool will remain a standalone app. However, we can expect it to integrate much more deeply across the wider Gemini ecosystem and Google Search.
We think this rebranding makes complete sense given Google's current AI push. It aligns the handy note-taking tool with their flagship AI brand, making it much easier for everyone to recognize.
How the App Has Grown
Do you remember when we first saw this tool back in May 2023 under the name Project Tailwind? It has come a long way since its early experimental days.
Over the past few years, Google has added incredible features like turning notes into AI podcasts and narrated slideshows. We even saw them add TikTok-style clips to help us summarize our thoughts.
Now, they are planning to bring our notebooks directly into AI Mode. This new feature will offer us a chatbot-like experience right inside Google Search.
New Secure Coding Features Arrive
Alongside the fancy new name, we are also getting a massive functional update this month. Gemini Notebook can now connect to a secure cloud computer to write and run code.
This powerful coding feature is currently rolling out to Google AI Ultra and Workspace business customers. Thankfully, Google promises to bring this to Pro users on the web over the coming weeks.
We cannot wait to see how these advanced features will change our daily productivity workflows. What do you think about these big updates?
